As Ghana marks a pivotal milestone in its journey toward a sustainable future, S. Tetteh & Associates (STA) is proud to have been at the centre of the conversation. On January 25, 2026, high-level dignitaries, including the EU Ambassador to Ghana, Rune Skinnebach, and the Ambassador-designate of France, H.E. Diarra Dimé-Labille, gathered in Accra to celebrate the successful conclusion of the SUNREF (Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Energy Finance) programme.

We are honoured that two of STA’s flagship projects were selected as highlights of the event, serving as tangible proof that green investment and world-class architectural design go hand-in-hand.

Setting the Standard for Sustainable Office Design

The SUNREF programme, a collaboration between the Energy Commission, the European Union (EU), and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), has been instrumental in mobilizing over US$20 million for green investments in Ghana. Among the seven completed projects nationwide, STA’s contributions were singled out for their impact on energy efficiency and climate resilience.

Specifically, our work on The Nexus and our Nearly Zero-Energy Building (nZEB) initiatives were showcased as benchmarks for the “Commercial Properties” sector.

“SUNREF Ghana was designed to move climate action from policy statements into real investments. These projects demonstrate the practical and commercial viability of energy-efficient construction.” — Rune Skinnebach, EU Ambassador to Ghana

Why STA Projects Stood Out:

  • The Nexus: A 7-storey landmark in Accra’s Airport Residential Area that integrates colorful, climate-responsive façades with high-efficiency systems, proving that luxury and sustainability are not mutually exclusive.
  • Energy Performance: Our featured projects notable energy savings, significantly reducing operational costs for clients while lowering Ghana’s carbon footprint.
  • Local Innovation: By utilizing native materials—such as Denya hardwood shading and rammed earth—we reduced embodied carbon and empowered local industries.

Our Commitment to a Greener Ghana

Being highlighted by the Energy Commission and international partners reinforces STA’s position as Ghana’s Best Sustainable Commercial Architecture Practice (as recognized by the BUILD 2025 Architecture Awards).

As the SUNREF programme transitions into a self-sustaining green finance market, STA remains committed to leading the charge. We invite developers and corporate leaders to join us in defining the next generation of Ghana’s skyline—one that is green, efficient, and unyieldingly modern.
